flying high - part 2

Ok - so to follow up with my last post about "maybe" going hang-gliding........um, yeah, it never happened. Sorry to disappoint, but I really did think about it and the truth is, if I even really wanted to do it, I couldn't -- the weather this last weekend was not co-operating!! There was no hang-gliding or anything going on at the point of the mountain. We had lots of stormy weather - rain and wind and nasty, dark clouds! But, good news, I do have that instructor's card so I can give him a call to see when he'll be back in town. So don't be too disappointed with me - it could still happen - sometime...... :)

flying high!

Went to the 'point of the mountain' to see the hang-gliders and para-gliders.  They say this is one of the best spots in the country for the sport.  There happened to be an instructor up there and invited us to go up with him sometime - but, I'm just not sure!  We'll see.  :)
It was fun to watch though!  There was a mountain right behind us and we were watching about 6 para-gliders up there.  I noticed one making some fun, crazy moves and I said, "I think he just hit the mountain!"  Well, we were watching them come in and land and one guy starting talking to us and asked if we saw him get beat up by the mountain!  I said, "That was you!"  He looked pretty worn out.  I noticed his shoulder and back where he had collided with the mountain!  I bet he was sore the next day!  When we were talking with the instructor, he mentioned that some travel miles and miles - I can't remember the exact number, but I do remember he mentioned Montana!  That's just crazy!
Anyway, here are a few shots of them.

These two are trying to take off...  The red one finally got up there...

Just landed...

I just thought this was cool!  He's just chillin' watching the plane go by.

t-ballin' it

Ok...so here is Adam's little brother, Eli, following in big brother's footsteps!  I'm going to be honest with you - and I'm not just saying this because he's my nephew - but he is definitely the best slider I've ever seen in a 5 year old!  He's got talent!  Although, I still think that his sport will be football....We'll see!

I wanted to share a few photos of my nephew, Adam, pitching for his team, the Diamondbacks. He's quite good! He was just recruited to play with an All*Star Team!

the salt flats

Jeff and I drove to the Salt Flats the other day.  If any of you know where this is, can you please tell me why some of these people would even want to get in or even near this water.  It's pretty in pictures, but it's a good thing you can't smell what I smelled while out there.  At some points, it was quite unbearable.  So, thanks Jeff for driving me out there to let me get a few shots.  I do like the pictures though.  :)

Part of the SaltAir....
Yes, we actually saw this walking towards the water...
Jeff took this one...

utah arts festival

Jeff and I went to the Utah Arts Festival.  The theme was "take part in art".  It was located at the Salt Lake City Library Square.  I heard that the library is one of the best in the country - I believe for its architectural design.  I always love going to the Arts Festival.  There are so many artists with all kinds of media -- photography, paintings, jewelry, cool things made out of scrap metal, cool things made out of glass, things I'm not sure what they are made out of.....
It really is an inspiration!

Thank goodness for the little foot pool to cool off in....

stephanie & shad

I did an engagement session back in April, and I just saw their wedding announcement.  Very cool!  So I wanted to share a few photos from that day.

Thanks Stephanie and Shad for letting me hang out with you for the day!  See you soon....
